In the late 1800s, prison barbers often doubled as dentists, earning the title, Barber Surgeon. At the Yuma Territorial Prison, inmates—from burglars to murderers—were trained to pull teeth and cut hair for fellow prisoners. Killer Cuts, indeed.

 

In celebration of the Yuma Territorial Prison’s 150th Anniversary, we proudly unveil the new Prison Barbershop Exhibit. Kindly join us on Wednesday, January 21st at 10:00 am for the opening ceremony. A special musical presentation will be performed by the Yuma Barbershop Harmony Chorus.
