Yuma Territorial Prison Competes Once Again for USA Today’s “Best Haunted Destination”
Community Encouraged to Vote Daily and Help Bring Home the #1 Title
Yuma, AZ — September 3 — It’s that time of year again! USA Today’s highly anticipated “Best Haunted Destination” competition is underway, and the iconic Yuma Territorial Prison is once again in the running — marking the fifth consecutive year of recognition on the national stage.
For the past five years, the historic site has consistently remained in the Top 5, with the distinction of once holding the coveted #1 seat. This year, the Yuma Crossing National Heritage Area is calling on the community and fans nationwide to rally behind the Prison to help reclaim the top spot.
“Whether you believe in the hauntings or not, this competition is more than just about ghosts — it’s about shining a national spotlight on Yuma,” said Yanna Kruse, Yuma Territorial Prison Park Manager. “Every vote highlights our community, our history, and the remarkable stories preserved here at the Yuma Territorial Prison.”
Winning this title once again would not only honor the heritage of one of Arizona’s most storied sites but would also draw additional visitors to Yuma, boosting local tourism and putting the city firmly on the map as a premier destination.
The public is encouraged to vote daily for the Yuma Territorial Prison through USA Today’s competition website. Each vote brings the Prison one step closer to regaining its crown as the Best Haunted Destination in America.
