Yuma Territorial Prison to Host “The Witching Hour” in Celebration of National Paranormal Day

YUMA, Ariz. – The Yuma Territorial Prison State Historic Park invites the public to experience an evening of mystery and local lore at The Witching Hour, a paranormal-themed event in celebration of National Paranormal Day, taking place on Saturday, May 3, 2025.

Gates open at 6:30 p.m., giving guests after-hours access to one of Arizona’s most iconic historical sites. Visitors will have the chance to explore the prison grounds and uncover the chilling legends and ghost stories tied to the facility’s past.

Activities throughout the evening will include:

  • Guided tours of the historic prison cemetery, where guests can learn about the lives—and deaths—of those once imprisoned.
  • A debut of the new Paranormal Hologram Exhibit, bringing the prison’s haunted history to life through immersive visuals.
  • Palm readings by the mysterious Gypsy Woman, offering a glimpse into your fate.
  • An interactive experience investigating crimes once committed by former inmates.
  • A special outdoor screening of the supernatural thriller The Conjuring (Rated R).

Local food vendors Yuma Street Food Mafia and Wild West Kettle Corn will be onsite, along with a 21+ Potions Bar offering themed cocktails, soft drinks, and water for purchase.

“This event allows us to bring history and folklore together in a unique and engaging way,” said Yanna Kruse, Manager of the Yuma Territorial Prison. “We encourage locals and visitors alike to experience the prison like never before.”

Tickets are limited and selling quickly. To purchase, visit: www.yumaprison.org/events.
